About ETE

Energy supply and consumption is a determining factor of Hungary’s economy. Home energy sources only cover a small rate of the consumption. The energy supply and the consumption have a crucial effect on the country’s economic state.

Beside having a key role in economy, energy industry plays a determining part in forming the environment and fulfilling the pollution control obligations of Hungary. The Hungarian Scientific Society of Energy Economics (ETE), founded in 1949 as a civil organisation, shows a highly responsible activity in this complex task system. The society co-ordinates the activity of several thousand experts of home energy production, supply and consumption companies as well as university departments and other institutions related to this special field.

The objectives of ETE are mostly determined by the current tasks of energy production and consumption. The following areas are of high priorities:

·        Solving the problems of a safe and high standard energy supply,

·        surveying the possibilities of decreasing the specific home energy consumption,

·        surveying the possibilities of saving energy by using up-to-date energy technologies,

·        preparation of the legal and regulation tasks concerning energetics,

·        preparation of the connection to integrated european systems,

·        dissemination of application of renewable energies.

Taking into account Hungary’s considerable agricultural production, the biomass has a great importance in professional work. Improving the experts’ knowledge and experience is also one of the objectives of the Society, too. Helping the home energetic equipment production and R&D potential to join the professional community of the developed industrial countries is an objective of high priority. The increasing activity shown in pollution control, quality assurance, diagnostics and energy recycling implies the extension of professional objectives.

There are special committees coordinating the ETE’s activity on the field of: gas supply and consumption, industrial energetics, power plant energetics, pollution control, heat supply, strategy and control of energy.

The renewable energy sources have separate department within the society. ETE collaborates with other civil societies dealing with biomass (Hungarian Biogas Union, Hungarian Biomass Society.

The documents prepared by ETE:

·        Studies of comprehensive character focused on the energy strategic

·        privatization of energy sector,

·        development of price structure.

·        Studies of special professional areas regarding to the effect on the environment

·        applicability of renewable energies,

·        reconstruction’s conception of power stations,

·        energy consumption of communities.

·        Reports of R&D tasks.

In order to spread the proper way of thinking about energetics and to better inform experts, the Society issues a journal of high professional standard with the title “Energetics”. This journal, founded in 1959 and sponsored and subscribed to mostly by companies, is published in 1500 copies monthly. Beside technical and scientific articles, it provides publicity for companies and their products and events of common interest concerning energetics.
