PROFILE
The FEE Fördergesellschaft Erneuerbare Energien e. V. is a non-profit, non-governmental association of innovative, mostly small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), scientific institutions and experts doing business in the fields of energy efficiency and storage, application of renewable energetic sources (RES), including biofuels, the utilisation of energy and industrial crops.
FEE is one of the founders of BBE Federal Assosiation of Bioenergy and BBK Federal Association of Bio- and Regenerative Fuels and is represented in its managing boards.
AREA OF INTEREST AND EXPERIENCE
FEE is active in favour of regional, national and international strategies of rational use of energy efficiency (RUE) and application of RES, putting emphasis on closed added-value chains. It initiated and manages several federal and transregional networks in these fields, disseminates knowledge about ready-to-use technologies, organises innovations, technology transfer between researchers and entrepreneurs, co-operation between SMEs, between them and research institutes, in public relations especially towards regional communities.
Special fields of activities are urban and regional economic development by implementing RUE- and RES-technologies, as energetic utilisation of biomass, including biofuels and biomethane, gasification of wood and methanisation of organic waste, solar building, economising the use of energy, development and implementation of fuel cells, hydrogen and other suitable fuels from RES, combined heat and power generation as well as cooling.
INTERNATIONAL, EUROPEAN OR NATIONAL PROJECT EXPERTICE
Apart from participation in several EU- and national projects in the past, at present, FEE manages the federal networks “Gasification of Biomass” and “Biogases – Fuel Cells”, founded on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection, co-ordinates the East-German Research and Working Co-operation “Fuel Cells and their gaseous and liquid fuels”.
FEE is one of German representatives to the EU-research network “GasNet”, as part of ThermalNet (formerly ThermoNet), a partner of the project of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research DENDROM “Sustainable Supply of Dendromass”. Apart from REDUBAR, FEE is a participant of the EU-Co-ordination Action “The Integration of Micro-Combined-Heat-and-Power Generation and Renewable Energy Systems” (MicroCHeaP), responsible for international technology transfer, and subcontractor in “Gasification Guide”. Since 2005, FEE has managed the German side in a joint public private partnership project with Colombia for energetic use of banana residues and co-Initiated the establishing of an Energy Research and Innovation Center at EEPPM Empresas Publicas de Medellín, Colombia.
