Potential Impacts

Potential impacts of the action

The first expected impact from this action (especially the information campaign, WP 09 “Communication and dissemination”) should be a better understanding between the partners in possible added-value chains. This could lead to an acceptance of biogas producer in the community of natural gas suppliers as partners in the same market. On the other side biogas producers and farmers will be made sensible for problems of safety and quality in regional gas grids.
Parallel to this development implementations and adaptations of legislative rules and technical standards could be made by public bodies to equalised these rules on the European level. This helps the market penetration of new technologies also in lower developed European countries.
With an increasing state of knowledge and experience more market partner are involved in this development. Most important partners are investors for promoting new technologies.
After a range of 10 years a substitution of 3 – 5% of the natural gas supply by biomethane is possible. When consequently used the distributed energy supply by polygeneration systems an overall efficiency of 70 – 80 % from biomass to end user energy could be achieved.
